Al Furqan
Our Story Continued...
With the blessings of Almighty Allah, a decade later, the Al Furqan Sri Lankan Community Organisation emerged as a beacon of unity and service in the heart of Luton. Founded in 2010, Al Furqan's mission was clear: to create a destination for Sri Lankan Muslims in Luton, a place where they could find support, guidance, and a sense of belonging.
Led by a dedicated board of trustees and fuelled by the passion of its members, Al Furqan quickly gained momentum, attracting over 475 registered members within a short span of time. But more than just numbers, it was the organisation's commitment to its values that set it apart.
At the core of Al Furqan's mission were principles of promoting religious harmony, advancing education for the greater good, and preserving Sri Lankan cultural heritage. From organizing Islamic classes over Ramadan for children to hosting workshops and engagement sessions for youth, the organization was tireless in its efforts to empower its members with knowledge and skills.
But Al Furqan's impact extended beyond its own community. By fostering social cohesiveness and engagement, the organisation became a catalyst for positive change in the wider society. Through partnerships with esteemed organisations like the Muslim Council of Britain and the Council of Sri Lankan Muslim Organisations in the UK, Al Furqan sought to amplify its voice and influence, advocating for social justice and equity for all.
As the years went by, Al Furqan's footprint in Luton continued to grow, its members leaving an indelible mark on the city they now called home. Whether through charity drives to support the less fortunate or cultural events celebrating the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan heritage, the organisation remained steadfast in its commitment to serving both its members and the broader community.
And so, the story of Al Furqan in Luton became more than just a tale of a community organization; it became a testament to the power of unity, service, and faith. From humble beginnings to becoming a pillar of strength and support, Al Furqan's journey reminded all who witnessed it that with determination and devotion, even the smallest of seeds can grow into the mightiest of trees, providing shade and shelter for all who seek it.
